Toyota is poised to launch a facelift LandCruiser Prado range with improved safety features, better third-row seat access and higher interior and exterior specification.

The facelifted LandCruiser Prado is scheduled to have its Australian wholesale release in late October.

The new Prado has a refreshed exterior and interior, including daytime running lamps on all models.

Important safety upgrades across the range will include trailer sway control and emergency brake signal.

Trailer sway control gives LandCruiser Prado owners an additional layer of confidence and control when towing.

LandCruiser Prado's new face draws on several structural elements from its unique design heritage; a further evolution of the classic Prado grille and a vertical, two-step construction accentuating the new Toyota's rugged appearance.

A comprehensive interior upgrade combines new switchgear and instrumentation with enhanced trim and ornamentation, improved second and third row seat designs with new fabrics, and new interior colour schemes.

LandCruiser Prado debuted in Australia in 1990 and is now midway through its fourth generation.

It is offered with the choice of 4.0-litre petrol and 3.0-litre turbo-diesel engines.

Packed with equipment that off-road enthusiasts love, the Wrangler Rubicon 10th Anniversary Edition is available as both a two-door Wrangler and a four-door Wrangler Unlimited.

Just 30 examples of the limited-run Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 10th Anniversary Edition have been secured for the Australian market, with 12 two-door versions and 18 four-door versions available for local Jeep enthusiasts.

“The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 10th Anniversary Edition is a tribute to 10 years of Wrangler Rubicon history,” said Ms. Veronica Johns, President and CEO Fiat Chrysler Group Australia.

“To celebrate the anniversary, Jeep has created a stunning new example of the Wrangler, available with key standard off-road equipment seen for the first time on a production vehicle.

“The Wrangler Rubicon has been designed for the Jeep brand’s most passionate enthusiasts and we expect this exclusive expression of the nameplate to be keenly sought after, as it offers an unprecedented level of capability straight from the showroom floor.”

Legendary Jeep Off-Road Prowess

For more than seven decades, Jeep vehicles have defined the benchmark in rugged capability and utility.  The most recognised of these vehicles has long been and still is the Jeep Wrangler, which has always provided an unmatched level of freedom resulting from the ability to traverse any trail, anywhere.

Ten years ago, for the 2003 model year, Jeep dramatically raised the bar in off-road capability with the introduction of the Wrangler Rubicon model.  Named after one of the most grueling off-road trails in the world, the Rubicon models were the most extreme Wranglers ever produced.

The 2005 model year saw the introduction of the Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited that brought more utility to the Rubicon’s quickly established off-road credentials.  Over the last 10 years, the Wrangler Rubicon has won numerous prestigious awards including Four Wheeler magazine’s “4x4 of the Decade” honour for its unmatched level of all-around capabilities.

Fast forward to the 2013 model year, with the wildly popular Jeep Wrangler Rubicon turning 10 years young.  To celebrate, Jeep has introduced a new, limited-production Wrangler Rubicon 10th Anniversary Edition that is the most capable factory-produced Jeep Wrangler ever released.

Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 10th Anniversary Edition

Based on the Rubicon model and available in two-door Wrangler or four-door Wrangler Unlimited specification, the Rubicon 10th Anniversary Edition is offered with a standard six-speed manual or optional five-speed automatic transmission mated to a Pentastar 3.6-litre V6 engine producing 209 kW of power and 347 Nm of torque.

The Jeep part-time four-wheel-drive system features front and rear Dana® 44 axles with a 4.10 axle ratio, Tru-Lok® electronic remote-locking differentials and a Rock-Trac® transfer case with a 4:1 low range, while Electronic Front Sway Bar Disconnect permits an intimidating display of articulation.

With the standard six-speed manual transmission, the Wrangler Rubicon 10th Anniversary Edition has an impressive crawl ratio of 73.1:1 that makes it a breeze to negotiate any obstacle.

The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 10th Anniversary Edition has a number of exclusive features that make it distinctive, as well as the most off-road capable Wrangler in history.  A one-half inch increase in ride height versus the standard Rubicon model provides the Goodyear Wrangler tyres with more room to claw at rugged terrain.

The tyres are mounted on 17-inch Rubicon aluminum wheels finished in satin black with polished faces and a red Jeep Wrangler ‘icon’ logo on the outside lip.

A dual-intake ‘Power Dome’ bonnet helps aid in engine cooling and lends the 10th Anniversary Edition a more menacing appearance, while Mopar rock rails give added protection from trail damage.  Mopar also supplies the black fuel filler door and tail lamp guards.

‘10th Anniversary’ badging on the front quarter panels and a red-silhouette ‘Rubicon’ decal along the sides of the bonnet add the finishing touches to the exterior.

The Wrangler Rubicon 10th Anniversary Edition comes standard with a three-piece body-colour Freedom hard top, while the soft top is also included in the vehicle.  Exterior paint colours for the Wrangler Rubicon 10th Anniversary Edition are White and an exclusive 10th Anniversary Edition colour called Anvil.

Special touches attributed to the interior include striking red leather seats with ‘Rubicon 10th Anniversary’ embroidered into the front seat backrests, which are sure to grab attention at first glance, while matching red stitching adorns the leather-wrapped steering wheel and the center console.

A unique gauge cluster features a ‘10th Anniversary’ signature as well as a premium Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) with read-outs such as oil pressure, oil temperature and tyre pressure.

The passenger grab handle, which is bolted on and quality stamped with the ‘Rubicon 10th Anniversary’ name, features a ‘Quick Silver’ finish that is also found on the air vent rings, steering wheel spokes and interior door handles.

Final design touches include Mopar slush mats, unique axle locker and sway-bar disconnect switches, and a plaque mounted in the dash tray that features the vehicle’s technical data, such as axle and sway bar types, transfer case type and crawl ratio, tyre size and location of manufacture.

Other standard features on Australian-market Rubicon 10th Anniversary Edition models include body-coloured fender flares, deep-tinted sunscreen rear and quarter glass, Uconnect media centre with 6.4-inch touchscreen and GPS navigation, front seat side airbags and a reversing camera.

Holden’s all-new small SUV, the Trax, has been awarded a maximum five-star safety rating from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP).

To be launched this month, the new Trax boasts a long list of standard safety features across the range including six airbags, a rear view camera and rear parking sensors and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) incorporating Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), brake assist, electronic brake distribution and traction control.

Ensuring safer transport for children, Trax also includes the ISOFIX child seat anchorage system, an international system for attaching child restraints to vehicles that assists in correct seat fitment. The inclusion of ISOFIX on the Trax means that all new Holden vehicles now feature ISOFIX as standard.

Holden Manager, Vehicle Structure & Safety Integration, Steve Curtis said it was great to receive a local endorsement for this globally successful car.

“We’ve been very confident in the Trax’s safety credentials, particularly after the global vehicle was awarded a top five star rating in Europe and Korea.

“This is a great result and one that reflects Holden’s commitment to achieving the highest level of real-world safety.”

Trax provides a strong structure that comprises high-strength and ultra-high-strength steels, a reinforced safety cage and impact-absorbing crush zones. This structure is designed to absorb the energy created in a crash and help preserve the structural integrity of the occupant compartment.

Further, to meet global standards for protecting pedestrians against head injuries in the event of a crash, Holden Trax uses energy-absorbing materials in the hood. Other energy-absorbing techniques for protecting pedestrians in the event of a collision include the strategic use of air space between the hood and hard objects underneath – such as the battery and engine – that could injure pedestrians.

  • Hybrid powertrain for Range Rover and All-new Range Rover Sport models
  • Outstanding performance with 250kW and class-leading 700Nm torque
  • 26 percent lower CO2 emissions (169g/km) and 6.4L/100km (combined)
  • Uncompromised cabin comfort and load space, with enhanced refinement
  • Hybrid capability to be demonstrated on 16,000km Silk Trail expedition to India
  • First deliveries Q2 2014
  • Available in three models, one for Range Rover  and two for the All-new Range Rover Sport

Whitley, UK, August 21 2013 – Land Rover is launching its first-ever hybrid models – the Range Rover Hybrid and Range Rover Sport Hybrid – which will deliver outstanding fuel economy, significantly lower CO2 emissions and retain Land Rover’s renowned capability and performance.

With first deliveries Q2 2014, the two all-aluminium models are based on Land Rover’s Premium Lightweight Architecture and share an identical powertrain.  They are the world’s first premium diesel SUV hybrids.

“We are extremely excited to introduce the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport Hybrids, the world’s first hybrid SUVs with legendary Land Rover capability.  The addition of a smooth electric drive enhances refinement, cuts CO2 emissions and delivers staggering performance on a par with our legendary SDV8 engine,” said John Edwards, Land Rover Global Brand Director.

To demonstrate the retained legendary Land Rover capabilities of the new hybrids, three Range Rover Hybrids will embark tomorrow (Thursday, August 22) on an epic trip, from the home of the Range Rover brand in Solihull to the home of the parent company Tata, in Mumbai, India.

This ‘Silk Trail 2013’ 16,000km expedition visits 12 countries and takes in some of the world’s most challenging roads, passes and trails, including part of the ancient, 4,000 mile Silk Road connecting Asia with the Mediterranean. These are the first hybrids to ever attempt this challenging route.

The new Range Rover Hybrid powertrain features three driver-selectable modes and combines Land Rover’s popular 3-litre SDV6 diesel engine with a 35kW electric motor integrated with the 8-speed ZF automatic transmission.  The hybrid system, including lithium ion battery pack, inverter and electric motor weighs less than 120kg.

The electric motor produces 170Nm torque to boost acceleration and drives the vehicle in EV Mode.  The motor also acts as a generator, harvesting kinetic energy through regenerative braking, charging the battery when the vehicle is slowing.  In driver-selectable EV mode the Range Rover Hybrid can travel at speeds of up to 48km/h for a range of up to one 1.6km before the diesel engine seamlessly restarts.

Together, output of the diesel engine and electric motor is 250kW at 4,000rpm and a class-leading 700Nm torque between 1,500-3,000rpm, resulting in stunning SDV8-style performance.  Both models accelerate to 100km/h in under seven seconds; deliver strong transient and mid-range performance with a top speed of 218km/h, combined with a 26 percent reduction in CO2 emissions to 169g/km, equivalent to 6.4L/100km on the combined cycle.

The latest generation Range Rover models have all been designed with the integration of a hybrid system in mind.  Consequently, the liquid cooled battery pack is mounted beneath the floor of the vehicle in a protective boron-steel cradle without impacting on the cabin or luggage space.  The Range Rover Hybrid has the same five-seat capacity and luggage space as the standard vehicle and retains the full-size spare wheel.  This no-compromise philosophy is echoed in the Range Rover Sport Hybrid whose interior is unchanged from the standard model, right down to the 5+2 seating.

Both hybrid Range Rover models continue to deliver a class-leading breadth of capability and versatility, enhanced by the exceptionally linear torque delivery from the powertrain and retaining Land Rover’s peerless four-wheel drive system including Terrain Response® 2, with uncompromised wading and ground clearance.

The ‘Silk Trail 2013’ expedition featuring the New Range Rover Hybrid is scheduled to visit France, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, China and India.  The expedition will be broken into 10 separate legs, with the Range Rover Hybrid vehicles driven by teams of Land Rover development engineers and invited media – arriving in Mumbai on October 15.

September 5, 2013 – The new Jeep® Wrangler Polar special edition model will make its debut at the 2013 Frankfurt International Motor Show, offering the first look at an exclusive specification package designed around the iconic Wrangler.

Reinforcing the breadth of the Jeep brand, the complete 2014 Jeep vehicle range will bask in the spotlights of the prestigious German exposition alongside the new Wrangler Polar.

Jeep Wrangler Polar: the new special edition model celebrating winter driving 4x4 capability

In order to highlight the most adventurous soul and legendary 4x4 capabilities of the iconic Jeep Wrangler, the new, customised Wrangler Polar edition will be revealed on the Jeep stand in Frankfurt in four-door Wrangler Unlimited configuration, boasting an all-new Hydro Blue exterior colour matched to a black interior.

On the heels of the success of recently launched – and sold out – limited-edition customisations of Jeep Wrangler, this new special edition sports a unique trim level dedicated to all those enthusiasts searching for adventure and absolute performance in extreme driving conditions. Featuring exclusive styling cues, 18-inch Gloss Black alloy wheels, body-colour hardtop and original Mopar® accessories, the new Jeep Wrangler Polar will be available in Europe in the first quarter of 2014, in both two- and four-door versions, powered by the powerful 2.8-litre turbo diesel or the award-winning 3.6-litre Pentastar petrol engine.

The Jeep Wrangler Polar takes its cue from the severe climate and extreme conditions that characterise the Antarctic region. The "Polar" badge located on the front quarter panel, next to the front fender flares, shows off the 78° S and 106° E coordinates that correspond to the location of Vostok in Antarctica: the exact point where the absolute severest temperature in the world was recorded at -89.2° C (-128.56° F).

The winter theme provided the inspiration for this special edition model and lies behind the choice of the Wrangler Polar’s unique styling cues, distinctive interior colours and individual details, which recall features from the Antarctic region.

The new Jeep Wrangler Polar was designed to express the freedom of going beyond the known limits to venture into unexplored territories: an experience that only Wrangler enthusiasts can enjoy, thanks to the reliability and safety granted by a vehicle featuring benchmark technology and unmatched off-road expertise developed over its long history. With its hostile routes and severe climate, the Antarctic region offers the driving conditions that the iconic Jeep Wrangler was engineered to conquer.

Based on the Jeep Wrangler Sahara model, the exterior of the new Wrangler Polar boasts unique features that distinguish it aesthetically from all the other models in the Jeep line-up. First of all, the new front grille, which features unique Gloss Black accents on the lamp throats, and the new hard spare-tyre cover, are both new styling cues introduced specifically for this limited-edition model.

Further exterior appointments characterising the Wrangler Polar are the Powerdome hood and the body-colour hardtop with deep-tint sunscreen glass. The ‘Jeep’ logo above the front grille and the 18-inch alloy wheels are both finished in Gloss Black to enhance the distinctive look of the vehicle. A black Mopar fuel-filler cover and the unique, three-colour hood decals, featuring the outline of snow-covered mountains, complete the exterior of the Wrangler Polar special edition model.

The interior features black leather seats enhanced by pearl white accent stitching and ‘Polar’ logo embroidered on the upper portion of the backrests. Standard equipment includes heated front seats and a black leather-wrapped steering wheel with pearl white stitching, along with high-gloss ceramic white painted bezels. Pearl white accent stitching is found also on the armrests and floor console lid. The passenger-side dashboard grab bar and dashboard vent rings are finished in high-gloss ceramic white to create the contrasting effect of the light on Antarctic glaciers.

The exclusive cabin of the Jeep Wrangler Polar special edition also features an all-new cluster overlay with rings painted in high-gloss ceramic white with a surrounding a blue instrument background emblazoned with the ‘Polar’ logo. Mopar tread-pattern slush mats complete the interior appointments of the new Wrangler Polar.

In addition to the all-new Hydro Blue paint colour that adds to the unique look of the vehicle displayed in Frankfurt, the Jeep Wrangler Polar special edition model is also available in Billet Silver Metallic and Bright White exterior colours.

Engineered to take on the most challenging off-road trails, Jeep Wrangler Polar is equipped with the Dana 30 front axle and powerful Dana 44 rear axle. Legendary Wrangler capability is achieved through the standard Command-Trac NV241 part-time, two-speed transfer case with a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio. In order to handle any off-road track in utmost safety, the new Wrangler Polar model comes standard with the Trac-Lok anti-spin rear differential. This particular differential replaces the manual rear-axle locker and is a torque-sensitive mechanical unit that works to maintain traction when travelling on slippery or rough road surfaces, such as on sand, gravel, snow or ice. Trac-Lok automatically distributes the available torque to the rear wheel with the most traction, thus helping to reduce wheel spin caused by lack of traction in the other rear wheel.

The standard equipment for on-board comfort includes automatic climate control, leather-wrapped steering wheel with integrated controls, heated front seats, height-adjustable driver seat, Electronic Vehicle Information Centre (EVIC) and cruise control.

Optional equipment available on Jeep Wrangler Polar is the Dual Top configuration that offers the possibility to have both the Sunrider® soft top and the Freedom Top™ hardtop options in one package. A further optional feature is the ‘Polar Pack 1’ special package offering front side air bags, Uconnect™ multi-media infotainment and navigation system with 6.5-inch touchscreen, 40GB hard disk, USB compatibility, AUX port and DVD player.

The new limited-edition model will be powered by either the efficient 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine or the 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 petrol engine. The 2.8-litre CRD engine delivers 147 kW of power at 3600 rpm and 460 Nm of torque at 1600-2600 rpm when paired to the five-speed automatic transmission. On models with a six-speed manual gearbox, the 2.8-litre engine delivers 147 kW and 410 Nm of torque at 2600-3200 rpm. The 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine produces 209 kW of power and 347 Nm of torque.

For more than seventy years, the Jeep brand has been the benchmark for an entire category of vehicles in terms of performance and versatility. Jeep Wrangler has been and remains the most famous model in the Jeep range worldwide. A brand icon, Wrangler has always been able to ensure its customers a unique degree of freedom thanks to its ability to master the most extreme off-road trails in utmost safety.

With a 52 cm longer wheelbase and a larger cabin that can comfortably accommodate five passengers, Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is an evolution of the classic Wrangler. Jeep Wrangler Unlimited combines the exceptional Jeep off-road capabilities with the comfort and versatility of an everyday car, turning the off-road champion into a four-door 4x4 convertible.

Jeep stand at Frankfurt International Motor Show

Jeep is in Frankfurt to confirm its vocation as an all-terrain brand that offers personality, comfort and technology. Located inside Hall 6, the 770-square-metre exhibition area shows the multiple terrains where Jeep vehicles can express their character: in the city, as well as on extreme off-road trails. Everything on the stand is an expression of power and refinement. The dunes, outlined through the modern resin pavement that distinguishes the corner of the new Jeep Wrangler Polar special edition-model, suggest the extraordinary off-road capabilities of the iconic Wrangler. The buildings located in the background of the stand reproduce the skyline of a contemporary US metropolis in order to pay tribute to the American origin of the brand and its role as an urban warrior.

The new Jeep Grand Cherokee stands out in the centre of an area that has been set up as a living room and finished with elegant hardwood flooring, which expresses both classic harmony and modernity. Completing the range and emphasising the juxtaposition between off-road capabilities and urban vocation, the refreshed 2014 Jeep Compass is showcased in the centre of the stand.

On a large screen placed on the stand’s background wall, videos will show the public the newest features and technological content recently introduced on the Jeep models. A dedicated area of the stand will host the merchandising corner where visitors can buy the exclusive accessories and apparel of the Jeep lifestyle collection.

Alongside the new Jeep Wrangler Polar special-edition model, the stand will host the 2014 Jeep line-up. In a space enhanced by the welcoming and refined atmosphere of a living room, the public will be able to get to know the new Jeep Grand Cherokee, the brand’s flagship which will be displayed in its top-of-the-range Summit trim level and boasting a Deep Auburn exterior and refined Grand Canyon Brown Natura Plus leather interior. The Grand Cherokee Summit model will be showcased beside the elegant Grand Cherokee Overland, featuring a White exterior and Indigo Blue Vesuvio interior, customised with exclusive accessories created by Mopar – the Fiat and Chrysler Group division in charge of Parts & Service and Customer Care – including a retractable trailer hitch, cargo area liner and door sill guard with illuminated Jeep logo.

Both Grand Cherokee models are powered by the 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel engine fitted with MultiJet II technology and producing 184 kW of power and 570 Nm of torque.

A dedicated corner of the stand will present to the public the high-performance Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT model. The most powerful and high-speed Jeep vehicle ever produced, the SRT boasts a Deep Cherry Red exterior and a Sepia colour Laguna leather interior. Equipped with the powerful Hemi® 6.4-litre V8 engine producing 344 kW at 6250 rpm and 624 Nm of torque at 4100 rpm, and featuring Fuel Saver technology for reduced fuel consumption and emissions, the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT achieves performance of absolute distinction: 0-100 km/h in 5.0 seconds, a top speed of 257 km/h and braking from 100-0 km/h in 35 metres.

Two 2014 versions of the legendary Jeep Wrangler will be displayed in the area of the stand where a special resin-treated pavement with beige colouring creates the particular effect of dunes. The elegant four-door Wrangler Unlimited Sahara model, powered by the 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine, is showcased in Billet Silver and features a body-colour hardtop and black leather interior. The second Wrangler vehicle is the Rubicon – the most extreme and capable off-road vehicle in the Wrangler range – which is displayed in the two-door configuration showing off a Flame Red exterior, black interior and special Mopar customisation.

In order to add a ‘specialised’ look to the Rubicon trim level of the iconic Wrangler, the ‘Mopar-ised’ Wrangler Rubicon model features a light bar, satin black rock rails and a half door kit with mirrors. The cabin also boasts a special Mopar customisation resulting from the application of a special trim kit, including Flame Red interior bezels.

Fully painted mid-Gloss Black 17-inch alloy wheels, body-coloured spare-tyre cover, sun bonnet and black fuel filler door with Jeep logo complete the look of the Mopar-equipped Rubicon model displayed on the Jeep stand, further enhancing the unique personality of the iconic Wrangler. Equipped with front and rear Dana 44 axles, Wrangler Rubicon’s unmatched off-road capabilities are achieved through the Jeep part-time four-wheel-drive system that receives power through a Rock-Trac NV241 two-speed transfer case with a 4.0:1 low-range gear ratio, as well as through Tru-Lock electronic front- and rear-axle lockers and the electronic-disconnecting front stabilizer bar – called the Active Sway Bar System – for additional wheel travel when traversing the toughest trails.

Lastly, two Jeep Compass MY 2014 vehicles will be hosted in the centre of the Jeep stand in Frankfurt. Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited’s (MMAL) next-generation Outlander is a harmonious balance of advanced safety systems, low environmental impact, high performance and comfortable driving. 14MY brings additional specifications across the line-up to maximise the Outlander’s outstanding versatility and value.

Available in three specifications levels (ES, LS and Aspire) across two-wheel and four-wheel drive variants, there is an Outlander to suit every lifestyle and budget.

Outstanding Environmental Credentials

The Outlander range has a choice of three engines, all returning outstanding environmental performance and all equipped with Mitsubishi’s eco-friendly driving system, ECO Drive. Turning on the ECO mode encourages fuel-efficient driving, with energy-saving control delivered across the engine, air-conditioning and four-wheel drive systems.

All two-wheel drive Outlander variants are driven by Mitsubishi’s frugal 2.0L four-cylinder DOHC 16 valve Smart MIVEC petrol engine. When mated to a five-speed manual transmission, the car consumes just 7.1L/100km, and when matched with the Continuously Variable Transmission, with INVECS III Smart Logic with Sport Mode you achieve 6.9L/100km.

Four-wheel drive variants are offered with a choice of a petrol or diesel engine. The petrol 2.4L Smart MIVEC is mated to a CVT and consumes 7.5L/100km. While the diesel 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo charged engine, with six-speed automatic transmission, provides a superior level of environmental performance, with CO2 emissions of 153g/100kms. With a lighter body weight of 1610kg achieved through the optimisation of the body structure, the use of high-tensile strength panelling and improved aerodynamics, the Outlander diesel engine delivers fuel efficiency of 5.8L/100kms.

Outstanding Safety

Internationally recognised for its advanced technology, the Outlander has been awarded with multiple ‘safety’ accolades. The “Top Safety Pick+”* award winner by the United States’ Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), collision safety in Australia awarded five-stars by the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP), as well as in Japan, taking the JNCAP Five Star award as well as First Prize. In addition, the Forward Collision Mitigation System (FCM) advanced active safety technology used in the Outlander was recognised in Europe by Euro NCAP.

The next-generation Outlander carries seven SRS airbags (driver and passenger, side and curtain, knee) across the range. The Outlander’s body uses the Mitsubishi Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) design which combines an energy absorbing front section with a strong, rigid occupant cell to provide outstanding passenger protection in the event of an accident. The RISE body is coupled with a rigid ladder frame, side impact bars, and collision absorbing joints.

Intelligent seat belt reminders are fitted to the front seat belts to alert occupants if a seat belt has not been used while pre-tensioners are fitted to the front seat belts to reduce slack in the event of a crash. Two ISOFIX child restraint mountings are fitted in the rear.

Active Stability Control is standard across the Outlander range and assists in maintaining stability and prevents loss of control when cornering by automatically recognising under-steer and over-steer and applying braking force to the diagonal wheel to keep the Outlander on-line through corners. Reverse sensors aid driver awareness when reversing and parking while Hill-Start Assist helps drivers take-off smoothly on inclines.

The inclusion of Anti-Lock Brakes System with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and a full-size spare wheel complete the list of standard safety features in the Outlander.

The Outlander also offers advanced safety technologies, available in top spec Aspire four-wheel drive models:

FCM (Forward Collision Mitigation System): Detects obstacles on the road ahead of the car and automatically applies the brakes to reduce speed and prevent collision (depending on travelling speed).

ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control System): Operates to maintain a safe distance between the cars in front even at very low speeds experienced in heavy traffic congestion.

Outstanding Design

With its refined compact design, the Outlander blends a substantial look with clean surfaces to create an understated yet assertive exterior. The slim, front aerodynamic grille shields the Three Diamond logo between the graceful wraparound headlamps.

This quality look continues inside the Outlander with the use of high-grade premium materials including padded surfaces, soft-touch finishes, silver and wood accents (dependant on model) and gloss black appliques. The smooth dashboard has been designed to assist better driver concentration through the use of ergonomic steering controls and high-resolution, easy-to-read instrument displays. Telescopic and tilt steering enhances driver comfort while cruise control and Bluetooth hands-free phone with voice command make it safer and more convenient to complete work on the go.

Depending on model, the comfortable second- and third-row seats can be easily configured to provide a number of seating patterns including five, six or seven seats or a long luggage space with flat floor. The large rear cargo area offers plenty of space which can be increased when the 60/40 split rear seats are folded down.

The next-generation Outlander has outstanding towing capacities with petrol models capable of 1,600kg and diesel models able to tow up to a massive 2,000kgs, making the Outlander the perfect vehicle for daily driving and family holidays.

The Outlander is available in a spectrum of colours including White, Starlight, Cool Silver, Titanium, Black, Sapphire and Copper.
