Sydney, Australia, 9 November 2015 – Land Rover has unveiled the world’s first luxury compact SUV convertible. Range Rover Evoque Convertible combines the bold design and refinement of Evoque with comprehensive specification and a sophisticated folding roof to create a no compromise, all-season convertible.

The ground breaking and distinctive shape of the original Range Rover Evoque lends itself to an elegant convertible design and the new model sits at the pinnacle of the Evoque portfolio as the most exclusive and capable convertible in the world.

As the fifth member of the Range Rover family – and the first ever convertible – the highly desirable new model combines traditional Range Rover luxury with a distinctive four-seat design and versatile storage.

The Range Rover Evoque Convertible has been engineered to meet Land Rover’s most rigorous standards, ensuring exceptional structural rigidity, trademark refinement, outstanding levels of safety and unrivalled breadth of capability.

The global SUV market is forecast to grow by 20 per cent over the next five years* and Evoque Convertible will play a key role in continuing Range Rover’s 45-year success story, pioneering an all-new SUV sector.

Evoque Convertible’s eye-catching exterior design is made possible by a sophisticated fabric roof shaped to create a crisply defined silhouette that remains faithful to the original design. Its Z-fold mechanism lays flush with the rear bodywork for a sleek, uncluttered appearance when lowered. The fabric roof is the longest and widest currently fitted to any vehicle on sale today.

The fully-automated roof stows in 18 seconds, and can be raised in 21 seconds, at speeds up to 50kph. When closed it provides high standards of refinement with a layer of acoustic insulation ensuring interior comfort on a par with five-door Evoque. In addition, the position of the roof doesn’t affect loadspace, with a generous 251-litre boot offering unrivalled practicality for a convertible.

At the heart of the high-class cabin is an all-new, high-resolution 10.2-inch touchscreen with Jaguar Land Rover’s next-generation infotainment system, InControl™ Touch Pro, which debuts in a Land Rover. Raising the standard of connectivity for the brand, the highly-responsive and super-fast InControl™ Touch Pro offers seamless smartphone integration, door-to-door navigation and a premium sound system.

Safety hasn’t been overlooked with a Roll-Over Protection Device featuring deployable roll-over bars hidden in the rear bodywork. It deploys two aluminium bars within 90 milliseconds in the unlikely event of a roll-over situation to create a survival space for occupants.

Land Rover’s full suite of lightweight, all-aluminium four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines is available with the potent 177kW Si4 petrol providing outstanding levels of performance and refinement.

Diesel power comes from Land Rover’s 2.0-litre Ingenium engines which provide highly efficient and refined performance with fuel economy up to 55mpg 5.1 l/100km and CO2 emissions as low as 149g/km.

Evoque Convertible is underpinned by Land Rover’s world-class all-terrain capability, using the same advanced technologies as Evoque five-door and Coupé derivatives. A customary choice of four-wheel drive powertrains combines with Land Rover’s nine-speed automatic transmission, Terrain Response® system, Wade Sensing and All-Terrain Progress Control to ensure Evoque is a convertible for all seasons.

Thor Air Suspension have released a coil replacement airbag suspension kit for the VW T5 Van / dual cab models.

The kit is easy to install and gives a variable spring rate, adjusted by altering air pressure in the airbags.   This ensures the VW T5 models can carry loads up to their GVM with safety.

The Thor kit keeps the vehicle level when loaded.

They are rated at 2.3 tonne per pair making their normal to max operational pressure from 30 – 45%.   Other benefits are improved steering and braking on the front wheels, making the vehicle safer and easier to drive.

Tradesmen using the VWs with constant or occasional heavy loads will appreciate the Thor air suspension, particularly as they are very affordable and carry a 5 year warranty.

Optional air supply system, including 12V compressor and in-cab controls, are an excellent complimentary kit to make the package complete.

Recent safety testing of the new Toyota Hilux has shown the vehicle to maintain its maximum 5 star ANCAP safety rating. Notably the Hilux achieved a good rating for pedestrian protection.

As an important model for both fleet and private sales alike it is a positive sign that the Hilux has continued to advance its safety performance in order to secure the top 5 star rating. Following the vehicle's release this week in Australia, the 2015 Hilux is scheduled for release in New Zealand later this year.

“The Toyota Hilux is a top 5 seller in both Australia and New Zealand, so it is great to see the 5 star ANCAP safety rating has been achieved,” said ANCAP CEO, Mr Nicholas Clarke.

“Studies have shown that around half of all work-related fatalities in Australia are a result of road traffic accidents.”

“As more organisations adopt a 5 star fleet policy, we will see a significant increase in 5 star vehicles on our roads, which will then be passed on to consumers when their fleet service ends in a few years time. As a result, ANCAP predicts a one-third reduction in the number of Australians killed or seriously injured by 2020, compared to 2001 when there were no 5 star rated cars in our roads” said Mr Clarke.

The new Hilux is the first light commercial vehicle to be awarded a good rating for pedestrian protection by ANCAP. Around 1 in 8 Australian road fatalities are pedestrians so improved frontal design of vehicles makes an important contribution to reducing the road toll. High front vehicles like the Hilux are especially challenging so Toyota has done well with the Hilux" added Mr Clarke

Pedestrians will also benefit from daytime running lights (DRL) being standard on all Hilux variants. DRLs have been shown to reduce the risk of pedestrians stepping out in front of approaching vehicles.

MELBOURNE, 24 Sept., 2015 – The all-new Ford Everest not only is the first-ever Australian-developed traditional SUV but it features a range of customer benefits not found on the Toyota Prado – a combination that seems to have captured Australians’ imagination.

News of the latest Ford continues to generate strong customer interest with more than 11,000 customers flagging interest in the newest Ford and 25,000 requests for brochures on the SUV. The Everest SUV is experiencing the second-most web traffic of all Ford vehicles behind the recently released 2015 Ford Ranger.

“The Everest is one of our crown jewels of our nearly $2 billion in R&D investment the past six years, something we have used to give our customer-relevant technologies and capabilities expected of an rugged off-roader,” says Ford President and CEO, Graeme Whickman. “We started promoting Everest last year with our ‘Guess Who’ campaign and it drove more interest with Mustang so we are pleased to see that momentum continue as they arrive at dealerships.”

With the SUV segment one of the most hotly contested in the country, interest in the Ford Everest SUV is mirroring customer needs for a contemporary, perfect adventure vehicle that is just as capable traversing the Simpson Desert as it is finding a parking spot in the local shopping centre.

“We’re aware of the competition in the market for this level of vehicle so we’re focused on delivering a broad message across various platforms to put the Everest SUV on customers’ shopping lists,” says Whickman.

The Everest SUV is a technological tour-de-force, featuring driver assist technologies that were once the domain of luxury European passenger cars; among them Smart customer features unavailable on the Toyota Prado – Lane Keeping Aid, Auto High Beam, Active Park Assist, Active Noise Cancellation and SYNC voice-activated infotainment with Emergency Assistance and MyKey.

These new technologies partnered with Traction Control, Dynamic Stability Control and Roll Stability Control systems provide a reassuring, smooth and fun ride. As well, among the features available in the Everest are a Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) to aid in lane changing and blind spots.

Critical to the off-road customer is capability and comfort matched with a robust Australian designed and engineered vehicle. The tough Everest SUV has a towing capacity of up to 3,000kg* and can wade deeper than any other SUV in its class; up to 800 mm^ and a ground clearance of 225 mm. Also, the Everest has an approach angle of 29 degrees; departure angle of 25 degrees and a ramp-over angle of 21 degrees.

Infotainment remains a highlight of the entire Ford range, with Everests available with Ford’s voice controlled SYNC system so that the driver remains in control of the car and can use the Bluetooth**-capable infotainment with ease, maintaining their eyes on the road and hands on the wheel.

Suzuki’s exciting new player in the compact SUV market, the All New Vitara has come out firing with 353 units sold (including Suzuki Queensland) in just over two weeks since the vehicle has been on sale.  And with reports of backorders steadily increasing, Suzuki believes this sales result is just the tip of the iceberg for the brand.

“With the Vitara RT-S offering such a high level of features from $22,990 drive away, the strong value proposition is driving both existing and new customers to the brand.” Said Andrew Moore, Suzuki’s General Manager of Automobiles.

With Vitara leading the charge, Suzuki hopes to capitalise on this growth with the introduction two new global models – the Suzuki Baleno and Suzuki Ignis (to be unveiled at the 44th Tokyo Motor Show). With development underway on these exciting new models, Australia has expressed a strong interest to Suzuki Motor Corporation to bring these cars to our shores.

“We believe that the Baleno and Ignis would satisfy customer demands and represent strong potential growth for the brand. We have requested these vehicles for our market, and are hopeful we can sell them here”, said Moore.

Mitsubishi Motors Australia has broken its own all-time SUV and LCV sales records with positive 2015 half-term results for the steadily growing brand.

According to official VFACTS data released today, MMAL sold 9,011 units in June, elevating it to 5th overall in the Australian new car market, while year-to-date MMAL sold 35,866 units, one of the company’s best first-half import results in its 35-year history.

The performance of its SUV and LCV range helped MMAL establish new all-time sales records for Mitsubishi LCVs (13,709) and SUVs (14,389) for the calendar year-to-date period.

MMAL was the number two brand across combined SUV and LCV sales June YTD with 28,098 units sold, reflecting a volume increase of 15 per cent compared to the same period last year.

Mitsubishi sold 3,526 Tritons in June, while Triton 4x4 was the highest-selling model in its category with 2,982 sales.

Mitsubishi SUV sales were also at record levels for the month.  Off the back of 15.5MY updates, ASX was the highest-selling Mitsubishi SUV in June with 1,358 units, followed by the revamped Outlander with 1,010 units.

Mitsubishi Motors Australia Executive Director of Marketing Tony Principe said the company’s strategic focus on growth areas in LCV and SUV segments and MMAL's continued strengthening of its product line-up was paying dividends.

“Customers have responded to the fresh direction Mitsubishi Motors is taking with models like new Triton and Outlander, which introduce greater levels of design appeal, quality and refinement to our core products,” he said.

“With SUV and LCV sales now accounting for about 54 per cent of the Australian new car market in year-to-date terms, it’s important we continue to focus on delivering a competitive range of products in these key growth areas.

“With a strong and continually evolving LCV and SUV line-up, we’ve been able to carry momentum through the first half of 2015, and broken a few of our long-held records in the process.

“We’re excited the company can now turn its focus to ramping up sales of 2016 Triton as we get full supply of the new model from September this year.”

Outback drives New Record Highs

Subaru’s brand new Outback SUV posted record sales in June, driving the Japanese brand to its best ever monthly performance.

Official VFACTS figures released today show Subaru Outback sales of 1257 in June, beating the previous all-time best of 1180 set in March of this year.

Overall Subaru sold 4502 vehicles, 270 vehicles higher than the November 2013 result that had been the previous all-time best. The result has catapulted Australia to be Subaru’s second largest international market outside Japan behind Subaru of America.

Along with the momentous Outback performance – up 576% on June last year – Subaru also achieved sales for Forester of 1255 and XV of 615 – in total 3127 SUVs, itself another all-time record.

But the new Liberty wasn‘t forgotten in the record breaking run. VFACTS show Liberty sales of 438, an increase of 278% over the same number last year.

Subaru Australia Managing Director, Nick Senior, said: “June was a particularly pleasing month considering the market increase was substantially driven by buyers rushing for the 20K tax incentive that was on offer, and of course we don’t play in the space.

“The reaction to our new Outback has been nothing short of phenomenal and it has created a substantial back order so I am off to Japan next week to plead for more stock. But given the worldwide demand for new Outback and new Liberty I think there will be a pretty big queue at the Production office!

“However I am sure given Subaru’s strong support of the Australian market and the loyal following of our customers we might be able to squeeze a few more vehicles for this market.

“While former Subaru owners make up a solid percentage of new Outback and Liberty buyers the most pleasing aspect of the first six months of this year has been the amount of new customers we are attracting to the brand.”

Subaru sold 21,659 vehicles in the first half of this year compared to 20,040 for the same period last year, an increase of 8.1% in a market that increased by 3.3%.

MELBOURNE, Australia (1 July 2015) – Nissan has today confirmed details for the 2015 Nissan Patrol V8, on-sale from early July 2015, with new pricing and significant improvement in specification and value.

The Patrol V8 is now available in two grades, Ti and Ti-L, meaning that many features are available as standard. The ST-L grade has been discontinued.

Inclusions featured as standard on the Patrol V8 include Off-Road Monitor, which provides information on steer angle, tyre slip and tyre pressure as well as a compass, and Traffic Monitoring System, which provides real-time traffic updates to help avoid delays, integrated into the navigation system.

Patrol V8 Ti and Ti-L continue to provide eight and seven seat capacity respectively.

Colour changes see Alpine White replaced with Ivory Pearl and Precision Grey replaced with Gun Metallic.

Patrol V8 features a myNissan Service Certainty schedule, three year/100,000 kilometre warranty (extended warranty optional) and three year roadside assist program as standard.

Isuzu UTE Australia (IUA) has continued its stellar growth, recording its highest ever monthly sales result in June, with 2,675 new vehicle registrations – eclipsing the previous best result of 2,339 posted in December 2014.

Both its 1-tonne D-MAX ute and 7-seat MU-X SUV achieved individual monthly record sales results, with 1,904 and 771 units respectively.

The end of financial year also provided IUA with its best opening six months on record, with accumulated vehicle sales YTD reaching 10,227, and total sales since commencing business in 2008 of just over 60,000 vehicles. A strong June performance also edged Isuzu UTE above Suzuki on the YTD sales charts. To put IUA’s rapid progress into perspective, less than two years ago the company posted an annual sales tally of 10,209 vehicles.

June’s VFACTS reporting confirms Isuzu UTE’s D-MAX as the fastest growing brand in the 1-tonne ute segment in both June and YTD, with D-MAX sales not only eclipsing Nissan’s Narava for the month (1,904 vs 1,280) but also on YTD sales (7,007 vs 6,473). D-MAX’s market share in June 2015 was 9.8 per cent, helped in part by improved fleet sales as increasingly customers demand their fleet be five-star ANCAP rated.

Isuzu UTE’s MU-X also set new records in June, once again outselling established Large-SUV segment players such as Mitsubishi’s Pajero, Nissan’s Pathfinder and Hyundai’s Santa Fe – resulting in a new market share high of 6.2 per cent.

“I am extremely pleased with the results our Isuzu UTE team has achieved so far this year … it’s a credit to the hard work everyone has put in across our business,” said IUA’s Managing Director & CEO Yasu Takeuchi.

“This year we have introduced a variety of new initiatives such as a new marketing platform in ‘Go Your Own Way’, a new Capped Price Servicing program ‘Service Plus’, and launched our owner’s ‘I-Venture Club’ … when combined with the continual expansion and improvement of our dealer network, our brand is really starting to make a significant impression on the market.

“June’s result deepened our confidence to exceed 20,000 unit sales in 2015, and while we are well aware of the challenges ahead of us in the second-half of the year, I am confident we can sustain our rapid growth,” he said.

Next-generation HiLux models for Australia will feature an interior that is tough and functional for the daily grind as well as offering advanced features demanded by workers, recreational users and their families.

The SUV-like cabin will provide a more comfortable driving position even for people with larger builds thanks to increased front head and shoulder room, an expanded range for seat-height adjustment, and tilt-and-telescopic steering.

Dominating the dashboard is a modern tablet-style touchscreen within easy reach of the driver and front passenger, while buttons on the steering wheel allow easy operation of the audio system and a connected smartphone, including voice recognition.

Other new interior appointments across the range include air-conditioning, cruise control, headlamp levelling, 12-volt accessory socket, intermittent wipers, a centre console box and power operation for the windows, mirrors and door locks.

The next-generation HiLux range, which goes on sale from early October, will encompass 31 variants with a choice of two new turbo-diesel engines, two petrol engines, three transmissions, 4x2 and 4x4 drive, three body styles and three equipment levels.

Comprehensive safety features include a reverse camera on all pick-ups and an accessory camera available for cab-chassis buyers as well as seven airbags, stability and traction control, anti-skid brakes and an emergency stop signal.

Seat-belt reminders are now fitted standard to front seats in all variants and for rear seats on double cabs.

Toyota Australia's executive director sales and marketing Tony Cramb said next-generation HiLux heralds the era of refined trucks that are engineered to suit varied demands from many types of customers.

"New HiLux is more unbreakable than ever with a stronger frame and body, new high-torque diesel engines, rugged yet advanced exteriors and spacious interiors that combine modern features with durable designs," Mr Cramb said.

"Even workers in tough industries like mining, building and farming want the space, ergonomics, technology and ride comfort of the new HiLux interiors - and so do their families," he said.

Seats in tough WorkMate variants are now covered in hard-wearing black fabric instead of vinyl while the floor covering remains vinyl to meet the durability customers require.

SR and SR5 grades have carpet on the floor and high-grade seat material while SR5 turbo-diesel 4x4 double cab buyers can specify a power-operated driver's seat with leather-accented trim.

These variants gain an air-conditioned box capable of heating or cooling two 600ml bottles for the convenience of workers and families.

Every HiLux 4x4 is fitted with an electronic transfer-case dial while SR and SR5 versions are equipped with a rear differential lock for added off-road traction.

All extra and double cabs have increased rear-knee clearance while the rear seat in double cab SR and SR5 variants is now split 60/40 with a stowable armrest, providing flexible seating and storage options.

WorkMate supplements its rugged character with welcome features including a 6.1-inch touchscreen display for viewing the reverse-camera image (pick-ups) and controlling the audio system, which includes AM/FM radio, CD player, auxiliary/USB input+, Bluetooth®* and two speakers.

Mid-range SR offers two speakers in single cabs, four in extra cabs and six in double cabs. SR5 extra cab is equipped with four speakers.

Double cab SR5 variants are fitted with six speakers, a seven-inch touchscreen and Toyota Link connected mobility#, which can provide access to Pandora®## internet radio and help find fuel, a destination, weather and other assistance.

SR5 also has digital audio (DAB)^^ and satellite navigation^, giving drivers the option of being guided to destinations found through the Toyota Link# system. For a small fee, SR5 drivers can use Destination Assist** to request the help of an operator to find a particular destination. The destination and contact details are sent to the vehicle using the Destination Download app**.

A multi-information display on the SR instrument panel is upgraded to a 4.2-inch full colour display on SR5 variants, which also gain a 220V connector - suitable for plugging in a camping refrigerator - as well as a second 12V socket.

To accommodate families, all HiLux double cabs feature two top tether anchors and ISOFIX attachment points for the rear seat.

SR5 is also distinguished by keyless smart entry and start, automatic air-conditioning, chrome door handles, premium steering wheel and shift knob, upgraded instrument cluster with cool blue illumination, an alarm, auto headlamp levelling and silver highlights throughout the interior.
